As June arrives, we welcome the warmth and energy of summer—a season of growth, celebration, and renewed purpose. At Rise Up Recovery, summer is more than just a change in weather; it’s a powerful reminder that transformation takes time, light brings life, and freedom is worth celebrating.
Summer is often a time of reconnection—with nature, with others, and with ourselves. It’s also a time when many people in recovery begin to experience the joy of sober living in a new way: community barbecues, outdoor adventures, family outings, and quiet moments of reflection in the sunshine. These are the simple joys that so many had once lost—and now reclaim with clarity and gratitude.
This season, we encourage our community to:
Get outside and get connected – Nature is a healing space. Join our sober recreation events or plan your own moments of reflection and fun.
Stay grounded in your recovery – Summer can bring new temptations or disruptions to routine. Keep connected to your support systems and reach out when needed.
Celebrate progress – Whether it’s one day or one year, recovery milestones are worth honoring. We see you. We celebrate you.
Father’s Day – Honoring Strength and Redemption
On June 15th, we celebrate Father’s Day, a time to honor the men who guide, protect, and nurture. We recognize and celebrate:
Fathers in recovery who are doing the hard work to be present and lead with love.
Fathers of those in recovery who never gave up.
Those grieving the loss of a father or the loss of time.
God is in the business of restoring families, and we continue to see that truth lived out in the lives of the men and families we serve.
Juneteenth – Celebrating Freedom
On June 19th, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. At Rise Up Recovery, we believe that freedom—both physical and spiritual—is worth celebrating. Juneteenth is a reminder that true freedom involves justice, dignity, and opportunity for all. We stand in solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters and remain committed to being a recovery community that embraces equity, inclusion, and healing for all people.
Summer at Rise Up Recovery
This summer, our community center and housing programs will be buzzing with life—gardening, group outings, bonfires, barbecues, and outdoor recovery meetings. We are excited to offer sober summer events that build connection, celebrate progress, and provide safe, joyful spaces for all.
Whether you're in recovery, supporting someone on their journey, or exploring a fresh start, summer is a beautiful reminder that new life is always possible.
Let this be a season of light, healing, and hope.
With gratitude,
The Rise Up Recovery Team
Redeeming Lives; Restoring Dignity.
